A standard HIAB crane can reach several metres from the side of the truck — enough for most deliveries and placements. But some sites require considerably more reach. That is where our long reach HIAB capability comes in.
What is a Long Reach HIAB?
A long reach HIAB uses an extended boom — through additional boom sections or maximum extension — to reach loads that a standard HIAB cannot. Our flagship long reach vehicle is equipped with the HIAB X-HiPro 858, which offers significant horizontal reach beyond a standard unit.
Long Reach HIAB Applications
Rooftop Plant Installation
Installing HVAC units, air handling equipment or solar panels on a commercial rooftop often requires lifting over a parapet wall or across the roof itself. A long reach HIAB at street level can reach the placement point over the building edge.
City Centre and Restricted Sites
In urban environments, there is often no space to park directly at the lift point. A long reach HIAB parked on an adjacent street can reach across to the delivery or installation point.
Silos, Tanks and Vessels
Large industrial silos and tanks in positions with limited surrounding access can be placed precisely with extended reach, without requiring the truck directly alongside.
Over-Obstacle Lifts
Lifting over walls, fences, scaffolding or other site obstructions — long reach capability means the truck can position well clear of the obstacle and still reach the target.
Modular Building Installation
Placing modular building sections into tight footprints, over existing structures, or from a distance requires maximum reach and precise load control.
