Fleet Operations

FORS Bronze — Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme

FORS is the UK’s leading fleet accreditation scheme, operated under the auspices of Transport for London and widely recognised across the construction, logistics and facilities management sectors nationwide. Achieving FORS Bronze means our entire fleet operation has been independently audited and found to meet or exceed defined standards across four key areas: safety, efficiency, environment and management.

For HIAB Transport, FORS Bronze accreditation covers driver licensing checks, vehicle roadworthiness, management processes, collision and incident reporting, and driver health and eyesight. It demonstrates that our vehicles are properly maintained, our drivers are properly supervised, and our management systems meet the standard expected of professional operators.

Many major construction contractors, developers and infrastructure organisations require FORS Bronze as a minimum standard before approving subcontractors for site work. Our FORS Bronze status means we can be added to approved supplier lists quickly and without qualification.

Logistics UK — Formerly the Freight Transport Association

Logistics UK (formerly known as the Freight Transport Association, or FTA) is the UK’s largest membership organisation for businesses that move goods by road, rail, sea and air. With over 20,000 member companies, it represents the voice of the UK logistics industry in dealings with government, regulators and transport authorities.

Our membership of Logistics UK provides us with direct access to the latest regulatory updates, legal guidance, driver CPC training resources, vehicle inspection standards and industry best practice. It means our management team and operators are kept up to date with changes in road transport law, operator licensing requirements, and working time regulations, ensuring we operate within the law at all times.

For clients, our Logistics UK membership is an additional indicator of a professionally managed, legally compliant haulage and HIAB operation. We are not a sole trader running a single vehicle — we are a full logistics business, managed to industry standards.

Loader Crane Certification

ALLMI — Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers and Importers

ALLMI is the principal industry body representing the lorry loader (HIAB) sector in the United Kingdom. It exists to promote safety and best practice in the design, manufacture, sale, inspection and operation of lorry loaders and loader cranes. ALLMI works closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Department for Transport to develop codes of practice and training standards for the industry.

The vast majority of our drivers hold ALLMI certification, which is the recognised standard for safe lorry loader operation in the UK. The ALLMI training and assessment process covers safe working loads, slinging techniques, stability requirements, pre-use inspection, load charting and the legal responsibilities of the operator. It is widely regarded as the gold standard for HIAB operator competence.

When you use HIAB Transport, you are working with drivers who have been independently assessed and certified under the most rigorous lorry loader training framework available in the UK — not simply holding an internal ticket or company induction.

Operator Certification

CPCS — Construction Plant Competence Scheme

The Construction Plant Competence Scheme is managed by CITB (the Construction Industry Training Board) and is widely recognised as the primary competency certification for construction plant operators across the UK. It is accepted on virtually all major construction sites and infrastructure projects as proof of a qualified, assessed operator.

The vast majority of our HIAB operators hold CPCS cards, with the relevant category covering lorry loaders and truck-mounted crane operations. To achieve a CPCS card, operators must pass both a theory test and a practical on-site assessment conducted by an accredited tester. Cards are renewed periodically and require ongoing NVQ-level qualification to upgrade from a Red Trained Operator card to a Blue Competent Operator card.

Many of our operators hold the Blue Competent Operator card, which is the full professional-level CPCS qualification. This level of certification is a requirement on most major infrastructure projects, road schemes and large commercial construction sites — and it is what we bring to jobs where this standard is required.

Equipment Standard

Hiab — We Only Use Genuine Hiab Equipment

Hiab is the world’s leading manufacturer of truck-mounted loader cranes, and the brand from which the generic term “HIAB hire” derives. Founded in Finland in 1944, Hiab equipment is the benchmark for reliability, lifting capacity and technological advancement in the lorry loader industry worldwide.

We use genuine Hiab equipment exclusively. Every crane on our fleet is a factory-built Hiab unit, maintained to the manufacturer’s own specification and serviced at the required intervals. We do not operate copies, compatibles or older units of uncertain provenance. Our fleet includes Hiab models from the 558 series through to the X-HiPro 858 — all modern, in-service vehicles.

Using genuine Hiab equipment matters because the load charts, safety systems, remote controls and operator interfaces are all engineered and tested together. Our operators are trained on specific Hiab models, meaning there is no guesswork about how the crane will behave on a given job. It also means our insurance, maintenance records and service history are clean, auditable and fully up to date.
